CLWC Contest #1

On April 12th, 2008 the Canyon Lake Wakeboard Club kicked of the 2008 contest series with a bang. Whoever paid the guy off upstairs for the amazing weather that was right around 100 degrees and water temps being in the 70’s should be thanked. The phenomenal weather and perfect water all day allowed the riders and spectators alike to enjoy each and every pass. The buzz in the air was that title sponsor Supra had flown in Ben Greenwood and Kyle Schmidt along with newly signed Eddie and Jacob Valdez to really show what could be done with the exquisite wake put out by the Supra.
A stellar turn out of 65 riders entered the first contest of the season with plenty of friendly competition in each of the classes. The Open class provided some of the best riding all day with Chris Williams, Jesson Veddel, Trevor Marquette, Eddie and Jacob Valdez. At the end of the day Jacob Valdez came out on top with Jesson Veddel and Trevor Marquette following with 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In the afternoon all the rumors were put to rest when Ben Greenwood and Kyle Schmidt put on an exhibition run for all the spectators in attendance. The likeable Pro riders put on a show that no one will soon forget. The Kids Club collected 3,308 pop tops for the Ronald Mcdonald House making them well on the way to the goal of 50,000. The Horse Shoe tournament gave 60 dollars to the eventual winning team and look forward to even more participants to up the pot. The CLWC would like to thank the event sponsors of Supra, Liquid Force, California Correct Craft, California Skier, WakeWorld, Alliance, CWB, Hyperlite, Quiksilver, No Fear, Jet Pilot, Red Bull, Cire and Twist'n U for providing a great event and even better prizes to go with the trophies for each of the classes.
